Who Are We?
West Wales Buddhist Group
West Wales Buddhist Group is a growing, lively community of Buddhists meeting in Aberystwyth, offering meditation teaching and exploration of how putting the Buddha’s ancient but practical wisdom into practice can help us in our lives.
We attract people from across West Wales, including Aberystwyth, Machynlleth, Aberdyfi, Lampeter, wider Mid Wales and as far south as Narberth.

Where Are We?
In Person and On Zoom.
Our in-person events are held at the Quaker Meeting House, Penparcau, Aberystwyth, SY23 1SZ.
We also have Morning Meditation sessions on Zoom.

Triratna Buddhist Community
About Our Tradition
The Triratna Buddhist Community aims to present a form of Buddhism that is grounded in the core teachings and practices that underlie all the different ethnic schools of Buddhism, yet is accessible to us, here and now in the 21st century.

The Triratna Buddhist Community was founded in 1967 as the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (FWBO) by Urgyen Sangharakshita, a Londoner who realised at the age of sixteen that he was a Buddhist. He became ordained as a Buddhist monk in India, and spent twenty years practising and teaching Buddhism in the East. In 1964 he returned to Britain and saw the need for a new kind of Buddhist organisation - a community of Buddhist practitioners committed to living a Dharma life, who were neither monastic nor lay.
Despite feeling that he was not the ideal person to found such a thing, he felt it was needed, and so founded the FWBO in 1967 and a year later, the Western Buddhist Order. It was renamed the Triratna Buddhist Order in 2010, as it had grown beyond the West, and is now represented on all the world’s inhabited continents.

The Ordained Community
The Triratna Buddhist Order is a community of people who have made the decision to place the practice of Buddhism within the Triratna Community at the heart of their lives.
Order members live and practise in a wide variety of situations across the world - some live with their families and work in conventional jobs, others live in communities and work together in Buddhist teams, others live and practise in retreat centres with a more monastic focus.
